What the tool does
It adds the validity period you give to the date obtained, then counts the days between today — your device’s date — and the expiry date. It does not know any certification and suggests no period: you provide it.

How to read the result
The expiry date is the anniversary of the date obtained: January 31 plus one month gives February 28 (the 29th in a leap year). Days left are calendar days; once the date has passed, the result says how many days ago. A reminder date is the expiry date minus a lead time you entered, and any that has already passed is flagged.
The period comes from the issuing body
Only the issuing body sets the validity period and how the last day is counted. Check both on your certificate or with the body before relying on a date. This tool helps with the arithmetic and guarantees nothing: keeping track of your expiry dates remains your responsibility.
