Glossary
Remanso's words, in plain language.
The terms the product uses, defined without jargon. To see what the platform does with them, read the platform overview or try it for 21 days.
- Assignment
- Placing a person on a shift or an activity. Remanso checks that the person holds the required qualification.
- Availability
- The times when a person can work or volunteer. It changes from week to week, and the schedule is built around it.
- Background check
- The check an organization carries out before giving someone a role in front of the public. Remanso keeps the date and whether the person is cleared, never the report itself.
- Certification (certificate, card)
- The document or card that proves a qualification, with the date it was earned and the date it expires. A photo of it can be added to the person's file. Terms of validity, with sources
- Compliance
- Where an organization stands against what it must keep up to date: qualifications valid, checks done, logs filled in.
- Expiry date
- The date on which a qualification or a check stops being valid. Remanso tracks it for each person and gives notice before it arrives. Calculate an expiry date
- Floor plan
- The drawing of a building uploaded to Remanso, whose rooms are used to place activities and shifts.
- Inventory
- The organization's equipment, with its quantity at each site and a threshold below which it is reordered.
- Kiosk
- The screen at the door of a site where staff punch in to their shift with an employee number and a PIN.
- Log
- A list of checks to carry out at a given frequency, and the proof of each: who did it, when, and what was recorded.
- Payroll export
- A file of approved hours, handed as is to the payroll system the organization already uses.
- PIN
- The personal identification number that, with the employee number, lets a person punch in at the kiosk.
- Punch
- The record of a person arriving at or leaving their shift. It is made at the kiosk.
- Qualification
- Something a person has earned or completed that allows them to hold a role: a certificate, a course taken, a check passed. Remanso attaches it to the person's file and can refuse an assignment that requires it.
- Reminder
- A message sent ahead of time so that an expiry date, a session or a shift does not go unnoticed.
- Replacement (shift cover)
- One person takes over another's shift. The request is made in the platform, and the shift changes hands once the cover is accepted.
- Requalification
- The step that brings a qualification back in good standing, before or after it expires: a session to attend, then the new date on file. Expiry calculator
- Schedule
- All the shifts of a period, seen by place or by person. Once published, everyone finds it in their own space.
- Session (training, requalification)
- A meeting planned for a date and a place, with its sign-ups and waiting list. Each person's training hours add up from the sessions they attend.
- Shift
- A defined period of work at a given place that someone has to cover: for example 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the front desk.
- Site
- The place where an activity or a shift happens: a facility, a room, a pitch.
- Staff
- The people who work for the organization, volunteers included, whose files, schedules and qualifications Remanso follows.
- Staff file
- A person's record: contact details, qualifications with their expiry dates, documents and training hours.
- Team
- A group of people brought together for a job or a site, who see the same schedules and messages.
- Timesheet
- The record of the hours a person actually worked over a period. It is approved, then exported to payroll.
- Trial
- The 21 days in which you try Remanso at your own pace, with no credit card.
- Volunteer
- A person who gives their time without being on payroll. They have a file, qualifications and assignments just like staff.
- Water reading
- The measurements taken on a pool's water at a given moment, entered in a log.
